Philips MTB Marathon 2008
Regulations

1. Purpose
• To promote MTB culture development in Latvia.
• To promote MTB as healthy and to general public accessible sport.
• To promote bike as nature friendly transport.
• To provide an opportunity for people to compare themselves with the best mountain bikers from Latvia and neighbor countries.
• To provide an opportunity for children to engage in biking.

2. Time and place of stages
   1. May 24th, 2008. Smiltene
   2. August 10th, 2008. Ape

3. Distances and starting times

MTB Marathon 50 – start at 12:00
Length of distance 50 - 55km. Track has been made in one circuit and is fully marked.

MTB Marathon 30 – start at 13:00
Length of distance 25 - 30km. Track has been made in one circuit and is fully marked.

100% SPORTS Kids competition – start at 12:15
Kids competition track will be arranged in the start/finish area and participate can children under 12 year old.

4. Participants, age groups and distances
Participants are divided in following age groups.
Women:

W 12 (1997. - 1996.)	25-30 km
W Youth (1995. - 1992.)	25-30 km

W Amateur (1989. - 1973.)	50-55 km
W Senior (1972. and older)	50-55 km

There is also an "Open group" is for everyone, who wants to ride without competition 25-30km.

5. Registration and starting times
Both stages can be simultaneously enrolled online by using the advance payment opportunity.

Advance payment can be used for registration until May 21, 2008. Advance payment provides 20% discount on the start fee of every stage. 

You can register:
1. In official homepage www.trek-kauss.lv or at www.sportinfo.ee with on-line payment system.
2. On the spot, not later than 11:00. Registering from 11:00 – 11:30 for double fee. Registration is closed at 11:30.

At first stage competitors will be placed in starting places according to the order of registration. Numbers are issued at the start location on the day of competition from 9:00 until 11:00.

Upon the withdrawal from competing the starting fee is not either returned or transferred to the next stages.

7. Classification
In every stage
Winners and candidates to further competitions are fixed in each stage in the participant classes given in Article 4. Participants receive points in each stage, which are calculated as follows: the winning time of each age group’s winner shall be divided by each participant’s time and multiplied by 1000.

In overall
In overall assessment, winners in the age groups are fixed according to the total number of points in both stages. In case of equal number of points, higher place is gained by the participant who has won a higher place in the last competition stage.

8. Awarding
Stage prizes:
Top 6 finishers in Men Elite group and top 3 finishers in Women Elite group will be awarded with medal, diploma, sponsors prizes and money prizes:

Top three finishers in other groups will be awarded with medal, diploma and sponsors prizes. In every stage all participants will take part in lottery of sponsor prizes. In PHILIPS MTB Marathon second stage in Ape (Vaidavas kauss) also will be awarded top 6 finishers in overall classification.

Overall prizes:
In overall top 6 finishers in Men Elite group and top 3 finishers in Women Elite group will be awarded with PHILIPS MTB Cup, sponsors prizes and money prizes:

Top three sportsmens in overall classification in other groups will be awarded with TREK MTB serial cup and sponsors prizes.

In final stage all participants will take part in lottery of TREK 4300 bike and other sponsor prizes.

9. Judging
Competition is judged in accordance with rules of Latvian Cycling Federation

10. Important rules
• Every participant assures that he/she is responsible for his/her state of health and participates in the event on his/her own risk.
• All participants who are younger than 18 years of age will be on their parents’ responsibility.
• All participants must wear a helmet when on the racing track, otherwise the rider will be disqualified.

11. Services
Catering – after finish every participant can get refreshment drink and oatmeal.
Bike repair and care – at the spot there will free bike maintenace provided by TREK bicycle store (www.trekveikals.lv)
Bike wash - After race there will be possibility to wash bike.
First aid – at starting zone there will be medical care if necessary.
Results and photos – all results and photos within 24h will be available at official race homepage www.trek-kauss.lv and results in www.sportinfo.lv
