Instruction
Ohje suomeeksi 

1. Competition

1.1. Nissan MTB Cup (NBC) s a series of international bicycle marathons for mountain bikes in Estonia, Latvia and Finland.
1.2. NBC is a series of bicycle marathons for teams, where in each stage of competitions is also compiled a separate list of results.
1.3. Aim of the series of competitions is to promote sports and international integration and to find the best mountain bike team of the Baltic Sea region.
1.4. NBC stages are carried through in accordance with the NBC series instruction and UCI competition rules.

3. Distances
3.1. NBC series includes prologue (team relay) and 3 stages (both an individual and team contest.
3.2. There is no individual contest in prologue. In addition to amateur and main race team contest (team relay), there will be also a Hobby Ride in prologue.
3.3. The teams relay contest allows 3 raiders per team and duration is approximately 2 hours.
3.3.1. On the official homepage of the series is set up additional information of the team relay at the latest on March 1.
3.4. During all other stages of NBC series will be Main, Amateur and Hobby races.
3.5. Distance of the Main Race is depending on the difficulty of the course 70-100 km; if possible the race takes place in 2 laps.
3.6. Distance of the Amateur Race is 35-50 km, if possible the race takes place in 1 lap.
3.7. Distance of the Hobby Ride is up to 10 km. The Hobby Ride is not a competition. Competitors’ time is registered and the official report is compiled in alphabetical order. A lottery is organized, the results of it are put up on the notice board and on the official homepage of the stage

4. Starting times
4.1. 11:00 Start of the Hobby Ride
4.2. 12:00 Start of the Main Race
4.3. 12:15 Start of the Amateur Race


5. Registration to the race and starting fees
5.1. Registration to the NBC 2008 competition series starts on March 1, 2008.
5.2. Registration to the NBC stages (excl. registration on the spot) only takes place through the internet on the homepage of Sportinfo at the address
www.sportinfo.ee
5.3 About participating in prologue. Teams that plan to participate in all NBC series must be registrated first to entire NBC series and after that three participants to prologue.
5.4.
Starting fee includes: marked course, starting number, time-keeping chip, time registration (only in case of correctly attached time-keeping chip from the start to finish), service at SPs and at the finish, awarding at main races, for finishers with a result a diploma from the internet, bike washing possibility, medical help if required.

5.5. Starting fees (EEK/EUR/LVL):
5.5.1. Registration for the whole series takes place according to the following scheme
5.5.2. The preliminary and main registration and registration on the spot take place in accordance with the instruction of the concrete stage.

5.5.3. Registration for the participants born in 1943 and earlier is free.
5.5.4. A participant of the Main Race has the right to participate in the Hobby Ride without paying an additional fee, but he/ she must register himself/ herself to the Hobby Ride prior to the start.
5.6. It is possible to register to the NBC stages at a reduced price while paying as an one-time prepayment the participation fee for the whole series. Registration by prepayment ends on April 21, 2008 at 24:00.
5.7. Preliminary registration ends on Wednesday of the week preceeding the competition day at 24:00.
5.8. Main registration ends on Wednesday of the week of the competition day at 24:00.
5.9. Registration on the competition day on the spot ends half an hour prior to the start of according race.

6. Teams
6.1. There is separate team contest within Main race and Amateur race
6.2. There is also a women team contest in Amateur race
6.3. Each team consists of 3 to 6 members.
6.4. There exist no age or gender-related restrictions for belonging to a team exept womens team, where all the members of the team should be female
6.5. The best team of the Baltic Sea region or the NBC winner is determined in the Main Race competition.

7. Withdrawal from registration
7.1. Upon the withdrawal from competing the starting fee is not either returned or transferred to the following stages.
7.2. Registration fees being paid later than by dates shown in the instruction are not taken into account and the registered person is not entered into the start list. The organizer does not return a delayed payment.
7.3. In case of cancelling an NBC stage because of reasons not depending on organizers the participation fee is not returned.

8. Participants´ numbers and placement into starting groups
8.1. Participants´ numbers are issued on the competition day at the starting place.
8.2. Teams are divided into starting groups as follows: 1-10, 11-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80, 81-100, 101-120, 121-...

8.3. Basis of forming of starting groups:
8.3.1. As basis of placement into the starting groups of team relay is taken the time of registration with prepayment and after that the time of preliminary and main registration.
8.3.2. Placement into the starting groups of the relay race is started from the teams having registered to the Main Race!
8.3.3. Placement into the starting groups of the relay race is ended with the main registration. Those registering later are placed into the last starting group.
8.3.4. As basis of placement into the starting groups of the first stage is taken the result of the team in the team relay.
8.3.5. While compile the starting groups of the second and the third stage are taken into account the team results of the NBC current results of the year.
8.3.6. As it is a team event, individual competitors are the last who are set to places in the start corridor.

8.4. All competitors must start from their own starting group. In case of starting from a wrong starting group the competitor is disqualified.
8.5. The initial competitor lists are set up in the Internet at the address www.sportinfo.ee at the latest on the day preceding the competition.

9. Age classes (based upon the birth year)
9.1. In the Main Race there exists only the free class (born in 1991 and earlier).
9.2. Age classes of the Amateur Race for men: M16 (1992-1993), M18 (1990-1991), Free Class (1989-1969) and Seniors 40-49 (1959 -1968) and Seniors 50 and older (1958 and older).
9.3. Age classes of the Amateur Race for women: W15-18 (1990-1993), Women Free Class (1989 and older).
9.4. In the Hobby Ride there exist no age limits.

10. Safety and liability
10.1. All bikers are obliged to wear a helmet, in case of not wearing one the competitor will be disqualified.
10.2. Each Main Race and Hobby Ride participant confirms that he/ she is personally responsible for his/ her general health condition and athletic preparedness and is participating at the stage totally at his/ her personal risk and fulfills the instruction requirements. Children younger than 18 years participate at the responsibility of their parents.
10.3. The competitors are obliged to fulfill the Traffic Code, proceed from traffic signs and other signs having been set up by the organizer and the signs of traffic organizers.

11. Time-keeping
11.1. For time-keeping a participant must have the starting number visibly attached on the handlebar and on the bike the time-keeping chip coded for the given number
11.2. Each competitor must cover the race course, in case of not covering the course the competitor is disqualified.
11.3. At each stage (except prologue) the competitors participating at the main race and the amateur race receive points in absolute record-keeping as follows:
   1st place: 1000 points;
   2nd place: 995 points;
   3rd place: 992 points;
   4th place: 990 points;
   5th place: 989 points, etc.

11.4. In case of team record-keeping are added up the points of the top three finishers of a team at each stage, on the basis of which is determined the place of the team and are given place points to the team (except prologue):
   1st place: 100 points;
   2nd place: 96 points;
   3rd place: 93 points;
   4th place: 91 points;
   5th place: 90 points, etc.

11.5. The team with the biggest number of place points is the general winner of a series.
11.6. Initial results of each stage are set up on the day following the competition at the address
www.sportinfo.ee
11.7. Protests for correcting of possible mistakes are accepted until the evening Wednesday following the competitions.

12. Prizes
12.1. In team relay are only awarded teams, at other stages are awarded the best teams and the best of age classes with monetary or gift article awards at least in the following monetary value (€):

12.6. According to the results of the NBC series the best teams are awarded with monetary or gift article awards at least in the following monetary value (€):

12.6.1. As it is a team series, then no individual prizes are awarded according to the general NBC list of results.

13. Important rules
13.1. Bike class is free.
13.2. The bike cannot be changed on the course.
13.3. No separate start handlebar can be used.
13.4. A contestant must not use outside help while moving forward.
13.5. A contestant having started under a false name and/ or without the consent of the chief referee will be disqualified.
13.6. A contestant without a helmet is disqualified.
13.6.1. A conestant with open helmet belts is disqualified too. 
13.7. Time-keeping takes place with an electronic time-keeping chip. The chip must be attached properly on the lower tube of the frame, as low as possible, starting from entering the starting corridor until crossing the finish line. Upon exiting the finishing corridor the chip must be returned to the organizers. The Secretariat must be immediately informed of the lost chip. Participants have material liability for the chip starting from its receipt with start materials until its return. In case of not returning of the chip a contestant must pay fine 40 EUR according to the presented invoice. Until executing of the payment the contestant can not start at the next stages.
13.8. A contestant is disqualified in case of incomplete covering of the course.
13.9. Basis of disqualification are also the video recording and photos of the event.

14. Protests
14.1. Protests concerning the violations of competition results, competition rules, etc. must be presented to the chief referee: in case of the first hundred finishers within 1 hour after finishing of the 100.contestant, in case of all others the protests are accepted until closing of the finish.
14.2. Protest fee (excl. concerning the results) is 50 EUR that is returned only in case of satisfying of the protest. All competition-related protests are solved by the chief referee.
14.3. Cases not described in the instruction are solved by the organizing committee and/ or the body of chief referees in the course of work.
